If you do, you certainly owe it to yourself to investigate the Westerners. Though the organization has a worldwide reputation for scholarship, you don't have to be a scholar to be a member—just have an interest in western lore and enjoy the company of others who do. When the Chicago Corral meets on the last Tuesday of the month, you have a unique opportunity to hear noted authorities on all aspects of the West, in addition to discussing your own favorite subjects with kindred spirits.

Ever since its founding in 1944, the Westerners have dedicated themselves to preserving the history, heritage and traditions of the American West while encouraging the best in scholarship and research. Special emphasis is placed on separating fact from fiction, while having a passel of fun in the process. Members receive copies of the Westerners Brand Book, which are highly prized by Western book collectors, historical societies and university libraries.

The Chicago Corral was a founding chapter of an organization that now spans the globe with thousands of members. members have opportunity to visit with local corrals, when travel takes them to other areas.
